How does this affect my journey?
The route between Manchester Piccadilly and Sheffield via Stockport will be closed from 18:00 on Thursday 8th January until 00:01 on Saturday 10th January. During this time, no trains will operate on this route.
During this closure, services between Liverpool Lime Street and Cleethorpes will run only between the following stations, in both directions:
Liverpool Lime Street Manchester Oxford Road
Sheffield Cleethorpes

Due to the weather conditions, there willbe no rail replacement buses running between Manchester Piccadilly and Sheffield in both directions.

Although trains may still show as running from 18:00 on Thursday 8th January until 00:01 on Saturday 10th January, our teams are working to make amendments as soon as possible. Please check for updates.

What should I do?

What should I do?

Due to the forecast given, you cannot travel between Manchester Piccadilly and Sheffield in both directions after 18:00 on Thursday 8th January, and all day on Friday 9th January because there will no trains running and no replacement buses.

If your ticket is dated for travel on Thursday 8th January or Friday 9th January, you may instead use it on any TransPennine Express service on:

Thursday 8th January (before 18:00), or

Saturday 10th January, or

Sunday 11th January

We have also arranged for you to use your TransPennine Express ticket to travel on East Midlands Railway and Northern services between Manchester and Sheffield, in both directions, at no extra cost on Thursday 8th January until 18:00.

We are also strongly recommending customers to check their journey before they travel for all other routes across the network.

Alternatively, if the train you intended to travel on is cancelled or you are unable to complete your journey then you can apply for a refund from your point of purchase.
