Mae gwasanaethau prif reilffordd i mewn ac allan o Gaerdydd wedi dychwelyd i'r arferol i raddau yn dilyn problem strwythurol gyda phont, bydd tarfu ar wasanaethau ar Reilffyrdd y Cymoedd yn parhau tan fore Llun.

Datgelodd archwiliad arferol o'r bont groesffordd rhwng Caerdydd Canolog a Heol y Frenhines Caerdydd ar y penwythnos rai problemau strwythurol. Mae'r bont yn cysylltu Caerdydd Canolog â Heol y Frenhines, gan redeg dros y llinellau sy'n cysylltu Caerdydd Canolog â Chasnewydd a thu hwnt. Diogelwch yw ein blaenoriaeth gyntaf, felly ataliwyd gwasanaethau ar unwaith ac anfonwyd peirianwyr i'r safle.

Mae gwaith atgyweirio wedi galluogi gwasanaethau prif reilffordd rhwng Casnewydd a Chaerdydd i ailagor i raddau helaeth ac eithrio gwasanaethau lleol i Lynebwy a fydd ond yn rhedeg rhwng Glynebwy a Chasnewydd am weddill yr wythnos hon, gyda chysylltiadau yng Nghasnewydd i Gaerdydd.

Bydd gwaith ar y bont yn parhau'r wythnos hon a disgwylir newidiadau i wasanaethau tan ddydd Llun. Mae gwasanaethau bws yn lle trên ei le rhwng Caerffili a Chaerdydd a rhai gwasanaethau ar linell Coryton, ac mae gwasanaethau eraill yn dargyfeirio drwy linell y Ddinas. Bydd gwasanaethau trên ychwanegol yn cael eu hychwanegu wrth i gamau o'r gwaith gael eu cwblhau'r wythnos hon.

Mainline services into and out of Cardiff have largely returned to normal following a structural issue with a bridge, however disruption to services on the Valley Lines will continue until Monday morning.

A routine inspection of the intersection bridge between Cardiff Central and Cardiff Queen Street at the weekend revealed some structural problems. The bridge connects Cardiff Central to Queen Street, running over the lines linking Cardiff Central to Newport and beyond. Safety is our first priority, so services were immediately suspended and engineers sent to site.

Extensive repair works have enabled mainline services between Newport and Cardiff to largely reopen with the exception of local services to Ebbw Vale which will only run between Ebbw Vale and Newport for the remainder of this week, with connections at Newport for Cardiff.

Work on the bridge will continue this week with service amendments expected until Sunday. Bus replacements are in place between Caerphilly and Cardiff and some services on the Coryton line, and other services are diverting via the City line. Additional train services will be added as phases of the work complete this week.
