As part of Network Rail's Access for All scheme, Grays station will become fully accessible with the addition of two new lifts which will allow c2c passengers to access both platforms via the existing stepped foot tunnel under the tracks.

The subway is being closed to maintain safety of station users while work is underway to install the two new lifts. Access between Grays station platforms is via the level crossing of stepped footbridge whilst works are taking place.

Planned engineering work will take place between Barking and Pitsea via Rainham from 03:00, Monday 05 May 2025 to 02:59, Tuesday 06 May 2025.
All services via Ockendon will be terminating at Grays and restarting from Grays.
Customer Advice:
Rail Replacement Bus Services services will convey passengers between Grays and Pitsea via Tilbury Town in both directions.
All services via Rainham will be replaced by buses between Upminster and Grays.
Customer Advice:
TfL bus EL2 between Dagenham Dock & Barking and TfL bus 287 between Rainham & Barking via Upney (LUL) services will convey passengers via any reasonable route.
All services via Basildon will be diverted to London Fenchurch Street. Stratford will not be served.
